Anger is a basic emotion which can range from feelings of irritability and frustration to rage.
Often people struggling with these emotions spend a lot of time thinking about situations where they lost a sense of control or feel they were treated unfairly.
Anger can be accompanied by behaviours which negatively affect relationships at home and in the work place. These can be overt, such as shouting or snapping at people, but can also be more subtle, such as using the silent treatment, or holding a grudge. These actions cause embarrassment to the person and those around them in many everyday situations such as driving, shopping and queueing.
For some people, anger can become internalised. This can underlie depression and anxiety if it is not recognised as the root cause.
In counselling, Anna can help you to identify the situations that are causing your anger and to understand the core reasons for your reactions. Together you will explore how your anger escalates and how this process affects your thoughts and behaviours.
Using CBT Anna will work with you to build unique strategies to manage your anger. These will focus on how to deal with triggers, how to interrupt the escalation of your anger and how to effectively calm it down.
